Some of our viewers have been wondering how and why we did a Carly Rae Jepsen – Call Me Maybe parody video. Here’s a little back story on how all of this came about…
Two weeks ago, the Call Me Maybe – Harvard Baseball Team video fell onto my desk. I watched it over and over and over again. It was such a simple video, but one day it went viral and got nearly 13 million views! Their coordination through the entire song showed that when you work together as a team, you can do anything. A light bulb clicked in my head and I knew I wanted to get the entire AirSplat team to remake the video. There was only one problem, we didn’t have a 12 passenger van. We also wanted to showcase as many AirSplat employees as we could.
There were already so many versions of the Harvard Baseball Team video, so we knew we wanted to do something a little different. I browsed around YouTube some more and stumbled upon the Call Me Maybe – Staples Center version. Their concept was easy and it involved so many different people and departments. It truly showcased the people and faces behind the Staples Center and their three teams (LA Kings, LA Clippers, and LA Lakers). I wanted to do the same for AirSplat, to show our customers that we are in fact real people and not just someone you talk to behind a computer or phone. We wanted our customers to see the people that put so much hard work and dedication into offering you the best in airsoft.
Thus, the AirSplat Call Me Maybe Carly Rae Parody Airsoft Version was born:
Getting our entire team on board to remake the video was the easiest part. We blasted the song on the loud speakers and caught everybody dancing around while they were working. I was quite impressed with some of their dance moves as well, they must be practicing them while packing orders.
Call Me Maybe just might be the catchiest song so far this year.
Hey, I just met you,
and this is crazy,
but here’s my number,
so call me, maybe?
This song was so popular, Barack Obama even did a parody on it:
We’re the Nation’s Largest Airsoft Retailer, so call us maybe?
