“Why I Own a Gun” – Gunowners Give Their Reasons for Owning a Gun
Jonathan Rorrer, 17, of Rocky Mount, is photographed with an AR-15 Airsoft gun. “My dad was in the military, and ever since I can remember I’ve wanted to be in the Army,” Rorrer said. “And I figured playing with Airsoft is one of the best ways to prepare me both mentally and physically for in the field.”
David Lawrence, 46, of Roanoke, is photographed with an 1810 Double Barrel Double Flintlock 24 Gauge Muzzleloader. “I’ve just always collected guns,” Lawrence said. “I remember just going out in the fields walking with my dad, and just shooting at stuff, you know shooting at sticks, and little targets, cans. I can’t imagine not having guns.”
Owen Prillaman, 17, of Rocky Mount, is photographed with an AR-15 Airsoft gun. “If I play Airsoft it’s with my Raider Team. We normally use the Airsoft guns, basically just for playing around,” Prillaman said. “We go out in the woods with several friends, we’ll come up with different kinds of games, and basically you go out and shoot each other with plastic BBs.”
Richard Jennings, 12, of Franklin County, is photographed with his uncle’s 1861-1865 Zouave Musket. Jennings carries a flag when he participates in Civil War reenactments.
